Frequently Asked Questions
1. How long will my order take to arrive?
Your order will ship it out via USPS Priority Mail for a maximum 2 day delivery once shipped. Processing times can vary based on available ingredients and day of the week order is placed.
2. Do you bake everyday?
No, I am only one person baking in a standard kitchen. Besides, I prefer to bake in small batches and only make so much at a time to keep my inventory fresh.
3. What's a home-based Cottage Food Operation?
We operate in a certified kitchen following the same health and safety standards you would find in a commercial kitchen. Home-based Cottage Food Operations follow a rigorous licensing and permitting process that allows small businesses to start-up at a fraction of the cost compared to opening a traditional bakery. We are however limited to shipping within the state of California.
4. Where can I try Tommy's Tempting Treats in person?
We are currently in-person on Saturdays 8 am to 1 pm at the Twentynine Palms Farmers Market. We also often participate in events on Friday nights and Sunday mornings. Visit our "Visit Our Booth" page for more information and directions to our booths.
5. Where are your ingredients listed?
Each treat has its ingredients listed on the product page near the 'add to cart' feature.
6. From where are the ingredients for Tommy's Tempting Treats sourced?
My local resources are limited, but many of my ingredients come from 2 local stores: Smart & Final and Albertsons. I also order from Amazon.com.
7. Why don't you list calories and other nutritional label information?
My permit does not require nutritional labeling. When we outgrow our current Cottage Food Operation permit things like nutritional labels become mandatory. Until then we are required to list ingredients, allergens, and weight of product.
8. Can I buy Tommy's Tempting Treats in person?
Yes, currently on Saturdays at the Twentynine Palms Farmers Market. We also have other booths, click on our "Visit Our Booth" page for further information. We do not have a brick and mortar store, yet.
9. Does Tommy's Tempting Treats deliver?
Yes! We deliver locally in the city of Blythe for free to the Albertsons parking lot. You can also pay for door to door delivery. All other cities in California, it will generally be less expensive to have treats delivered via USPS Priority Mail. You can reach out to me at Tommy@TommysTemptingTreats.com for other delivery requests.
10. How much comes in a bag?
Six Cookies or Marshmallow Crispy Rice Treats
Peanut Brittle is 5 ounces
Granola is half a pound/8 ounces
11. Does the granola have added sugar?
Nope! It's sweetened with honey and dates. I made sure to use unsweetened coconut, and unsweetened dried cranberries just so our sugar-conscious granola lovers could enjoy this granola too!
12. Is the granola gluten-free?
Because it shares equipment with wheat products (like our cookies, though we do sanitize equipment between baking different products) we don't like to claim gluten-free. However, we do point out that it was intentional that none of the granola's ingredients contain gluten so those with less severe stomach issues can enjoy our granola too.
13. Where does Tommy's Tempting Treats ship?
Currently, our Cottage Food permit only allows us to ship to addresses within the state of California.
14. Is there a minimum purchase required for local Blythe delivery?
No! You can have your treats delivered for free to the Albertsons parking lot. If you want to your door delivery, there is a $5.99 charge and minimum purchase amount of product (so not including shipping charges) is $19. That's only one Granola Gift Jar, or 2 bags of treats. And remember you can mix and match to reach $19.
15. Do Tommy's Tempting treats require refrigeration?
All our treats are shelf stable. If it makes you happy you can freeze the cookies or refrigerate them. The granola can be refrigerated, but not frozen. Marshmallow Crispy Rice Treats should not be refrigerated nor frozen.
16. How should I store Tommy's Tempting Treats?
You should leave treats and granola in sealed plastic wrap until ready to consume.
Once opened, I store my treats in their bakery bag on the counter in a sealed gallon baggie.
17. What's the best way to open the plastic wrap protecting Tommy's Tempting Treats?
We use a thick and durable plastic wrap for health, safety, and freshness. The best way to open this plastic is cutting it with scissors.
